Hello. I'm Joshua Phillips and I'm excited that you've taken the time to check out my web site. My hope is that visiting this site will give you the opportunity to get to know who I am and what I stand for, as well as provide you with lots of useful mortgage information. Since 1996, I've worked diligently to serve my customers and have them become "customers for life." I trust you will give me the opportunity to serve you!

My Family
If you've received my Home Sweet Home newsletter for a while, I'm sure you know that my family is very important to me. First of all, I've been blessed with a wonderful wife Amy. We've been married since 1992. We genuinely enjoy being together and love taking long trips to spend time with each other. Our favorite trip has been a 10-day adventure in New York City for our tenth anniversary. It was absolutely awesome!
I've been blessed with four children-Lydia, Seth, Gabrielle, and Jesse. They are each incredible in a unique way and add so much purpose and value to our lives. It is so neat (and a little scary) to watch them grow up into young men and women before our eyes. Time goes much too fast!

My Professional History
My first venture into the mortgage business began back in 1996. I knew nothing about the business, but a friend thought it would be a great opportunity for me. So, I gave it a shot. The company's techniques were "old school" as they told me to take donuts and flyers to local realtors. It was tough-going and I only did one loan in the six months I worked for that company! I left the mortgage business and swore I would never return.
However in 1998, a good friend of mine connected me with the owner of Churchill Mortgage (Mike Hardwick). Knowing the great reputation of this company, I decided to give the mortgage business another shot and began working for Churchill Mortgage in the fall of 1998. It was a wonderful, thriving environment and I was able to grow my business quickly. Over my five-year career at Churchill Mortgage, I became very successful, serving over 600 customers and funding over $100 million in home loans. I owe most of that success to Mike Hardwick who mentored me professionally as well as personally, and also to the wonderful team of people who worked with me.
I left Churchill Mortgage in the fall of 2003 to join a new company, Realty Mortgage. I believed in the vision of this new company and I was excited about the challenge of being involved in a new business in the Nashville/Brentwood area. My commitment is to help Realty Mortgage grow into a successful company in Nashville and to do it the right way-with excellent products, outstanding service, and a superb team of people.
My Core Values
My core values can be encompassed in the Biblical Golden Rule - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, or more simply, treat people the way you want to be treated. Here are the principles that come out of that.
Respect - I strive to treat my fellow employees and my customers with respect and to do all that I can to honor others.
Teamwork - I need other people in my life and in serving my customers. Nothing great can be accomplished by yourself! I work with others to solve problems and overcome obstacles.
Service - I strive to maintain a servant heart while I help my customers. I am in a service industry and I realize that taking great care of my customers is the main product that I have to offer.
Excellence - I am a professional and I strive to be the best at what I do. I execute my job with excellence.
Responsibility - Growth comes from admitted mistakes, not excuses. I embrace the saying, "if it is to be, it's up to me."
Honesty - The integrity of my business depends on my honesty with my fellow employees and with my customers. Deceit and lying breach trust. There is no crisis where this is the best course of action.
Love - I care about my fellow employees and my customers. As Tim Sanders says in his book, Love is the Killer App. "Love is the selfless promotion of the growth of the other."
